ATS (Tribal) dancers

When?

We run an 8 week term that starts at the beginning of school terms.
Term 1: 2nd Feb - 25th March 2021
Term 2: 20th April - 10th June 2021
Term 3: 13th July - 2nd September 2021
Term 4: 5th October - 25th November 2021

Where?

We hold classes in Tuggeranong: Tuggeranong Arts Centre, 137 Reed Street North, Greenway - We are in the studio, which is best accessed through the double yellow doors that come off the side car park (just before you go under the bridge). When you enter the centre we are in the studio on your right.

At Bellyup, we teach two different styles of bellydance, Oriental (what most people think of when they think bellydance) and Tribal (a modern form of bellydance where dancers learn a 'vocabulary' of dance combinations using cues to dance together).
In our Oriental classes, we teach you the moves through choreography, rather than endless drills. That way when you go home from your very first class, you will already be able to put together a number of moves!
Likewise, Tribal style will have you dancing combinations from the very first class. We teach using the ATS format where a leader uses cues the other dancers follow, this makes every performance unique.

Who can dance?

Anyone!
Our students have ranged in age from 6 to 83.
We have women of all shapes and sizes, and have taught students with varying degrees of mobility.

Class timetable

Tuesday 7 - 8pm: Gannouji (with Bec)
Wednesday 7:30 - 8:30pm: Level 1 FCBD Style (ATS/Tribal) (with Katrina)

Class descriptions

Hey Mama:
A fun dance that combines traditional moves with a contemporary twist! This easy to learn choreography is great for dancers with experience and ideal for beginners.
Gannouji:

Learn a skirt dance with a taste of flamenco. This class is for continuing students who will be focusing on using a skirt to flounce, flourish and accentuate their movement.
Remember: Bring a full circle skirt!
Level 1 FCBD Style (ATS/Tribal): This class is aimed at introducing the basics of tribal (Level 1) to beginner dancers, and introducing finger cymbals (zills). In this style of dance, you only need to remember short combinations, not a full length choreography!
