ATS (Tribal) dancers

When?

We run an 8 week term that starts at the beginning of school terms.
Term 4: 15th October - 5th December 2019

Where?

We hold classes in Tuggeranong: Tuggeranong Arts Centre, 137 Reed Street North, Greenway - We are in the studio, which is best accessed through the double yellow doors that come off the side car park (just before you go under the bridge). When you enter the centre we are in the studio on your right.

At Bellyup, we teach two different styles of bellydance, Oriental (what most people think of when they think bellydance) and Tribal (a modern form of bellydance where dancers learn a 'vocabulary' of dance combinations using cues to dance together).
In our Oriental classes, we teach you the moves through choreography, rather than endless drills. That way when you go home from your very first class, you will already be able to put together a number of moves!
Likewise, Tribal style will have you dancing combinations from the very first class. We teach using the ATS format where a leader uses cues the other dancers follow, this makes every performance unique.

Who can dance?

Anyone!
Our students have ranged in age from 6 to 83.
We have women of all shapes and sizes, and have taught students with varying degrees of mobility.

Class descriptions

Inti Veil with Bec: Learn how to hold, wrap, flip and spin a veil in a fun and upbeat choreography to the song Inti Malekeh. You will also learn how to interact with your fellow dances and how to move in and out of simple formations.
Ahasis with Fran: This drum choreography is packed with changing formations, interaction between dancers and precisely timed accents. Take your group dancing skills to the next level.
Tribal (ATS Level 1) with Katrina: This class is aimed at introducing the basics of tribal (Level 1) to beginner dancers, and introducing finger cymbals (zills). In this style of dance, you only need to remember short combinations, not a full length choreography!
Habibi Dah with Bec: Learn all the basic smooth moves such as figure 8s, undulations, snake arms, hip circles and camels. This choreography is perfect for anyone who have never belly danced before - or for anyone who hasn't danced for a while and wants to get back into it.
